We congratulate Colm O’Flaherty and Matty Hussey on their excellent work. The book has received much praise since its publication and the receipt of the prestigious McNamee award is well deserved. The presentation ceremony will take place in Croke Park on Saturday next.

MUNSTER UNDER 15 & 16 COMPETITIONS

Congratulations to Tipperary under 15 & under 16 teams on winning their Munster Titles at the week-end. The Under 16 team coached by Paddy O’Flaherty and with Eoin Donaghy playing defeated Kerry North & Limerick on Saturday to qualify for the Final against Cork County on Sunday. The Final went to extra time as a result of a late goal from Cork but Tipperary pulled away in extra time. The Under 15 team played and won their 4 matches on Saturday and Cahir was represented by Liam Casey and Keelan Hickey. Well done to all.

LADIES FOOTBALL

JUVENILE

The Cahir GAA summer camp took place last week and again it was a huge success. I suppose we have come to expect it to be so when we have John O Connor and Geraldine Kelly Hickey at the helm. The work that these two individuals put into the organisation of this event is immense. Everybody knows in advance exactly what to do and with the two lads cracking the whip you can be sure it runs well.

Again this year we saw some strange sights such as Dermot Fitzgearld with a Hurley in his hand. We think he was trying to impress Michael Cussen who attended the camp but I’m afraid to no avail. Many thanks to Micheal Cussen for attending the camp and giving some excellent advice and coaching to all the groups.

Some of the successful U21 footballers brought the Munster cup also. Many thanks to our own Ger Halley for organising it, as this was a huge hit with the children. Eoin Kelly attended on Wednesday and as usual his patience and ability to communicate with all present was exemplary.

Many thanks to all who helped out with the camp over the week. Hughie O’Donoghue as usual was acting the clown while Larry Walsh, Liam Shinnick and their team of helpers did an excellent job with the U6 crew and even learned palates.  A special thanks to our two nurses who attended each day Maura Grogan and Margret O Donnell who looked after all scratches and bruises.

The highlight of the week as always is the water fight on Friday. Avery special thanks to Anthony Corcoran, TJ Carroll and Mark Hogan from the fire service who provide the water for the occasion.

Training resumes next Tuesday and Thursday night for all grades.
